Rinne - 2005

Rinne aka Reincarnation directed by Takashi Shimizu can be considered as one of the best movies in the J-Horror cult. Released in 2006, this flick was appreciated well within in Japan as well as by the global audiences.

The young Japanese actress Nagisa Sugiura (Yuka) signed a horror movie, which was based on a true incident that took place several years ago. The story was about a mad professor who went on a rampage to kill 11 people in a hotel. The murder victims consisted of one young boy and girl. The director of the movie wanted, which Sugiura signed decided to shoot in the same hotel in, which the murder took place. The hotel had been abandoned since them. While shooting for the said movie, Sugiura encountered with images of ghosts and slowly the story of the past began to unfold..

Rinne does not have a very strong storyline, but it was told in a very nice way. Acting, special effects and background scores are just up to the mark, good enough to make this movie worth watching. You might find some resemblance with the classic movie 'The Shining'. Overall, quite an interesting movie for the J-Horror lovers.

My Rating - 7/10
