The Grudge is the remake of the famous J-Horror Ju-on. Both the Japanese and its English remake was directed by the same director, Takashi Shimizu. This English remake has brought the original film into more limelight. Karen Davis (Sarah Michelle Gellar), an American student was at Japan on a student exchange programme. She agreed to work as a nurse of an elderly lady Emma whose original nurse failed to turn up. Emma lived alone in a deserted house and was suffering from severe sleeping disorder. As Karen was nursing Emma, she heard strange noises from the floor above. She went there to investigate and met with the unexpected.
There are very few Hollywood remakes, which can actually match to some extent to their original counterpart; but considering it The Grudge has been able to make a mark. The storyline of the movie is excellent. The lights and background score was used very cleverly, which added an extra flavour to this horror flick.
