Young Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) was working for a Real Estate company. She had a boyfriend called Sam who wanted to marry her but did not have enough money to pay for alimony to his ex-wife. Marion had a sister named Lila with whom she used to live; she was frustrated with the ordinary life of a working class girl. Marion decided to steal $40,000 from her employer and escaped the city and headed for California to meet Sam. Being tired of a long drive, Marion decided to pullover and stopped at a nearby 'Bates Motel'. This motel was owned by a troubled young man Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), who seemed to be overly obsessed by his old mother. Norman served food to Marion, after, which she went to her room for a shower. No one knows what happened to Marion after that; she never made it to California.
Psycho is a masterpiece. It has every element to make this movie worth remembering for rest of your life. At the time of the movie, not too much of modern technology was available, yet this flick is good enough to compete with any modern movies from this genre. Excellent screenplay, storyline and acting have made the movie a cult. Even the background scores were added very clearly to keep the thrill alive from the beginning till the end. A must see for all Hitchcock lovers as well as for all horror/thriller enthusiasts.
