Rosemary's Baby - 1968

Rosemary's Baby was an intense horror film. The director Roman Polanski had really blended well bits of drama and romance in this flick too; and end result was the birth of a fantastic movie. This amazing piece of art had won 2 Oscars and 1 Golden Globe Award along with several others.

Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow) shifted to an old apartment in Manhattan with her husband Guy Woodhouse (John Cassavetes). The apartment gave her a creepy feeling and soon she started experiencing odd things happening in her life. Her husband was enchanted with their neighbour Mr. & Mrs. Castevet (Ruth Gordon & Sydney Blackmer) whose child had committed suicide. Rosemary became pregnant after she dreamt of a strange creature making love with her. Her health began to deteriorate after that and then there was no other option left but to "pray for Rosemary's baby".

This movie is more like a drama, the horror element is mostly subtle. Polanski did an excellent job as usual along with the actors. The movie might seem much longer than usual horror movie and even at a certain point it might test your patience; but nonetheless, a good classic stuff. No blood or gore, neither unnecessary sound effects; but that's what made this flick different from others. If you like Hitchcock's stuff, definitely this movie is going to make you happy.

@ Shion Guha - Yeah I know the rating, which I have given is quite low. But I personally found it a bit slow considering the kind of stuff I watch.
