Honogurai Mizu No Soko Kara - 2002

From the Director of Ringu, Honogurai Mizu No Soko Kara aka Dark Water is one of the brilliant J-horrors by Hideo Nakata. Nakata has own International Critics Award at Gerardmer Film Festival along with several other awards for this movie. This movie is inspired by the novel Dark Water by Kozi Suzuki.

Yoshimi Matsubara (Hitomi Kuroki) fights the legal battle and wins the custody of her daughter Ikuko. With an intention to start a new life, she moved to a new apartment, which at the first sight looks perfect. Things begin to change when water stains appear on the ceiling and drip regularly. Yoshimi calls the landlord but he refuses to do anything. Very soon a strange red bag of a kid begin to appear everywhere in the apartment followed by the mysterious appearance of the kid. Yoshimi soon started discovering the reason behind it.

This is one of the brilliant work of Nakata. It has a very strong storyline, world class cinematography and editing. The superb background score makes the movie more enjoyable.
